The party decides to settle in Wangshu Inn after a rigorous day of work. Conveniently enough, Venti offers his abilities to aid Xiao’s struggles with his karmic debt after he nearly loses control on the battlefield.“Take my hand.”Xiao's pensive eyes dragged to meet Venti’s. His usual lack of response was enough to tell the group that he wasn’t interested as he kept his arms crossed.To think, the muse that saved him from his century long turmoil with the Dihua Flute turned out to be nothing but a haggling bard who reeked of alcohol. Xiao couldn’t care less about the deals of a wandering drunkard.“There’s nothing wrong with taking a little risk.” Ganyu’s horns perked up behind Venti alongside the traveler and their floating companion. Already suffocated by peer pressure, the last thing Xiao needed was for his student to use his own advice against him. And although he was tempted to teleport away, he wouldn’t resort to breaking his end of the deal after the tedious commission he put both of them through.A sigh leaked under his breath in the midst of the group’s eager wait.“Fine.”As the sun waned over the Wangshu Inn, the group congregated over to the balcony on the top floor. Reaching a hand out was nothing but a simple task, though it was near impossible to hide the embarrassing tremble of his palm as it touched The Bard’s. He’s not used to being surrounded by a group of people this persistent.

At a young age, Dorian was left to be raised by Durin, his older brother. The two were inseparable as they had each other's backs through thick and thin despite the hardships poverty brought.However, their relationship grew distant after Durin successfully launched his pharmaceutical business, often failing to make an appearance at home and miss special occasions such as Dorian’s birthday.After years of isolation, Dorian was eighteen when he was greeted by two government officials at his front door that informed him of a nation reported sting operation of a warehouse that was tied to his family name, encrypted unbeknownst to his knowledge. After his reluctant collaboration in the investigation, Dorian came to the discovery that his brother was responsible for the deaths of thousands by owning one of the largest drug distributors on the black market.In fear of only being associated with a criminal for the rest of his life, Dorian strives to create an identity for himself by obtaining memorable achievements through his art and neuro studies, even changing his appearance. After he applied to grad school, Dorian sought his move to Kingsgate as an opportunity to start anew.

Backstory
Dorian never saw the need to remember his biological parents so long as he had Durin by his side. Left at the hands of his older brother to take care of him, Dorian indulged himself in his studies throughout grade school in hopes of a successful future while Durin made sure to keep food on the table.Like his brother, Dorian bore a natural fondness towards chemistry; He had the fortune of witnessing Durin conduct some of his experiments at home which built his passion for the subject even further. Dorian strongly desired to follow in his brother’s footsteps, recognizing Durin as not only his sole provider, but a hero to others in need, intelligent as he was brash.Although their resources were scarce, Durin attributed his remarkable talents as a biochemist to better use and discovered a way to safely manufacture homemade medicine that others may not be able to afford by the U.S healthcare system; He strongly believed in accessible medication to the lower class and began selling medication at a fair price, eventually sprouting a small pharmacy of his own that swept him off his feet.As Dorian grew older, he’d notice Durin’s gradual decline in presence at home, finding himself studying alone from the moment he returns from school, only to be awoken by frequent visitors commenced in business with his brother in the middle of the night. Though, he could never bring himself to complain as his brother’s absences brought more money to spare, even allowing him to purchase art materials every holiday that would have otherwise been too expensive.Dorian used painting as a way to release stress from school as his studies grew more rigorous- He usually found his impoverished environments unappealing to the eye and chose to focus on the implications what a subject could be rather than copying the physical features he observed, resulting in his favor of abstract and contemporary art over still life portraits.Eventually, there were more paintings hung on the wall than the number of times he actually saw his brother’s face in a week.When he was eighteen, it took several months of his brother’s disappearance for Dorian to receive word of a sting operation of a local warehouse tied to his brother’s name, which sought the fall of his company. Through a year of constant berating and questioning of government authorities, Dorian had come to the discovery that his brother was the culprit behind manufacturing an addictive and lethal injective known under the code name as “Dragon’s Blood”.He had been administering drugs along with other abuses responsible for the death of thousands, making him a highly valued crime boss on the black market.His body was discovered a week later cowered away in a desolated motel, overdosed by his innovation to escape any consequences he would have faced after the exposure.Dorian never saw the need to say goodbye.

The Present
As an undergraduate, Dorian financially supported himself through commissions and winning art competitions, sacrificing a meal a day in order to balance his studies in psychology and passion for interpretive art. His winnings began to gain recognition throughout his local area the more he submitted however, and quickly propelled himself in the art industry after obtaining his bachelors as an early graduate.An opportunity arose for Dorian to move to Kingsgate, Massachusetts to study for his PHD in neurological sciences as the school he was accepted into was in walkable distance of a historical museum, where he eventually caved and applied for a part time position as an art conservationist, before taking on the Curator role, and over time becoming a tour director through his love for sharing different interpretations of art pieces to others.

Dorian holds high standards for himself in order to compensate for his broken past and expects others to do the same around him because that’s what he believes he deserves for his efforts.

He has a ‘don’t speak unless spoken to’ demeanor that is if you want to catch him in a good mood. As much as Dorian loves to blather his knowledge of various things, he enjoys conversations only when he’s the only one talking and has no interest in listening to what others have to say.

Although Dorian presents himself with professionalism most of the time, he is very short tempered and his emotions always find a way to seep through his stoic front, his frustrations showing through passive aggressive signals, and maybe angry tears if you push his patience far enough.However, coming from tough upbringings, he’s the first to empathize when he finds anyone in a difficult situation and would work with them to fix the problem at hand (in his own way) as he claims to never break promises and can be a loyal friend.

Dorian tends to change his appearance on frequent occasions for the simple fact that he views his own body as a canvas.

As commendable as his achievements are, Dorian’s work is far from a natural gift but a product of rigorous study and self discipline, though never feeling satisfied with what he achieves.

Dorian never felt like he had a name for himself growing up as he was usually addressed as "___'s Little brother", or "---'s classmate".

Early in the industry, the achievements he's earned in attempt to rebuild his life were repeatedly overshadowed in recent events of his brother’s crimes and had no identity of his own outside of being the brother of an infamous criminal. As a result, Dorian discourages any comparison that is made between him and any other individual, wanting to be known by his own successes only.

Despite putting in lifeless amounts of efforts for his pieces to gain the recognition they have today, Dorian still has yet to discover a goal that will fulfill his own desire as an artist- The number of rewards dedicated to his art are nothing more than distractions of his blood relations rather than submission upon his desire to validate his artistic capabilities.

Durin was around seventeen when he began raising Dorian who was no younger than an adolescent at the time, though the topic of their biological parents came more sensitive to Durin than Dorian since the early memories of his childhood were severely repressed.-If Dorian was known in school at all, He would've been deemed the "quiet kid" like many others. He never minded though, as bullying and outcaste were the least of his worries, simply going unnoticed in school.-Dorian remembers the time that Durin had people come over to move his lab equipment from their home for the first time. Though he claimed that "It was to make room for your own art studio", Durin was never home enough to show Dorian any admiration for his talent.
